Open Permits

What is an open permit in Orlando, Tampa, Central and South Florida?

If you have an open permit, it most likely means the permit on your home or business falls under 2 situations.

  1. You actually have an “Expired Permit” sometimes called an “Open Permit” that needs to be closed.
  2. The permit on your property is still in the 6 month (180 Day) permitting period. And, the permit has not been properly closed due to missing an inspection or the final permit has not been closed by the contractor. If the permit remains open after 180 it turns into an expired permit

The issues that are caused by an open permit on your home or business:

Having an open permit can cause you to have unexpected issues your property. You typically cannot close on a mortgage loan or sell your house.

Construction on your current project will be halted with an open permit. Any new projects will be delayed until the current permit is closed.

By having an open permit for more than 180 days you run the risk of your permit expiring and you needing to file for a new permit. This may require you to go through the permitting process again and cause you to incur additional costs.

When we help you close your open permits, we use all of our resources to make the process as easy as possible. We will reach out to the previous contractor, inspectors, and public records departments for that jurisdiction.

ClosePermits.com is owned and operated by SL Builders & Associates, LLC. We are able to open or close a permit with an unlimited scope of work based on your property needs.

We are able to assist with closing any open permits that a previous contractor has opened in Florida. We consult and work with architects and engineers to prepare construction documents or drawings if needed.

Step 1: ClosePermits.com requests all documents associated with the open permit. We will speak with all the current contractors associated with the open permit if available and request all documents from your local building department.

Step 2: We perform a detailed inspection of your property and make our professional assessments to what is required to close your permit.

Step 3: We will file the proper documents with the county or city building department to close your open permit.

Step 4: Once all work and inspections are complete, we will provide the necessary documentation to show that the permit is properly closed.
